I feel better about my own situation after reading this. I amnew to collecting Maples...was hooked after seeing, coveting and eventually buying my first maple which was a Koto No Ito. I bought it and planted it and while studying how to care for it realized how many other Maples were out there and the rest is history.

My Shirazz suffered some top die back this winter but it is doing well this summer and I will watch it closely this winter. I have been known to drive hours to a nursery that sold unusual trees especially Maples. My husband thinks that I am crazy to actually plan weekend trios around nurseries but I do now and have quiter a littel collection to show for it. SOme of my rarer Maples I cannot being myself to plant in the ground so they are in containers that will be placed in a greenhouse during the winters.

I am going to try my hand at seed propagation this year just to see what I get.
